Asset Management - PETRO Process Development
Business Issue

In order to update and enhance the accuracy of their customer’s installed
base and entitlement data, the Client wanted to capture data through customer
network audits and reconcile the data against their customers’ current
entitlement records.
Solution

Bardess Consultants developed and tested the feasibility of an Asset
Management Program with primary focus upon a defined network discovery tools
capability, as well as the definition of primary customer segments for the AM
program implementation. Consultants utilized customer entitled base data and
customized cost models to determine the Return on Investment within the
identified customer segments. The team developed functional requirements to
support development of IT infrastructure and processing of PETRO (Pre-Inventory,
Extraction, Translation, Reconciliation, Ongoing Assimilation), steps utilizing
new Services system architecture and developed an MS Access working model
prototype and process guide to support initial PETRO processing. Finally, the
Consultant Team engaged several customers and performed Proof of Concept process
trials.
Client Impact

The Asset Management program was determined to be a feasible and effective
method to improve the quality and accuracy of the customer data. The Beta
customers trial identified that entitlement records significantly understated
the amount of products the customer possessed and that the quality of the
product location data could be greatly improved.
