Bardess will analyze and/or develop both source and target data models as part of an independent development effort.  We can also work as a key part of a complex Data Migration effort where we will assist in identifying data gaps and the functional migration requirements and constraints.

Through the data models we will visualize the informational needs of the system through entity relationship diagrams.

Bardess data modelers will develop models at any of the four levels:

Conceptual Data Model
This level represents the overall logical structure of a database (excluding the impact of the software or data storage structure). It may contain data objects that have not yet been implemented in the physical databases. It gives a formal representation of the data required for a business function or activity.
Logical Data Model
This model is an intermediary between the conceptual and physical data models. It includes physical characteristics of databases that are generic in nature (such as indexes and foreign keys), without adding anything specific to a database system. Conceptual models are completely devoid of database-level information while PDMs are specific to a certain DBMS.
Physical Data Model
This model specifies the physical implementation of a defined database (e.g., Oracle, SAP, etc.) and contains the details of actual physical implementation including software and data storage structures. The models may be modified to meet required performance or physical constraints.
Transitional Data Model
This is an intermediate model for the movement of data between systems in a migration effort. The model is ETL-oriented and may include models for Data Link Repositories.

Bardess will utilize a variety of modeling schema, such as “STAR” and “Snowflake”, etc.  In addition, we will assist in the selection of the most appropriate Data Modeling tools for your situation in order to efficiently create the models.
