Network Inventory Project – Asset Management Concept and Mapping Feasibility Study
In order to update and enhance the accuracy of customer’s installed base data, the Client wanted to assess the feasibility of: (1) utilizing an SNMP discovery tool to identify customer network chassis devices, and (2) mapping data to entitlement and installed base records.
Bardess consultants assessed the quality of data within current services systems and determined key data elements required for update and ongoing maintenance. The capability of the Client’s network discovery tools were assessed to determine viability. The Bardess team then developed working models and processes to translate the data returned by the network discovery tools to match the internal ordering system nomenclature. Finally, the team assessed the feasibility and capabilities of reconciling network discovery data to internal system customer records focusing upon the availability, population and validity of key data elements.
The use of an electronic discovery tool was identified as a viable and cost effective method for obtaining data to improve the data quality and integrity of customer records within internal client systems.
Asset Management – PETRO Process Development
In order to update and enhance the accuracy of their customer’s installed base and entitlement data, the Client wanted to capture data through customer network audits and reconcile the data against their customers’ current entitlement records.
Bardess consultants developed and tested the feasibility of an Asset Management Program with primary focus upon a defined network discovery tools capability, as well as the definition of primary customer segments for the AM program implementation. Consultants utilized customer entitled base data and customized cost models to determine the Return on Investment within the identified customer segments. The team developed functional requirements to support development of IT infrastructure and processing of PETRO (Pre-Inventory, Extraction, Translation, Reconciliation, Ongoing Assimilation), steps utilizing new Services system architecture and developed an MS Access working model prototype and process guide to support initial PETRO processing. Finally, the consultant team engaged several customers and performed Proof of Concept process trials.
The Asset Management program was determined to be a feasible and effective method to improve the quality and accuracy of the customer data. The Beta customers trial identified that entitlement records significantly understated the amount of products the customer possessed and that the quality of the product location data could be greatly improved.
Requirements and Pro-Requirements and Process Development for a Financial System
As part of a larger project to redesign and realign customer service-related systems and processes, our Client needed to create processes and requirements for invoice and adjustment processing, renewal and opportunity reports, and entitlement data entry.
Bardess consultants participated in and facilitated the gathering of financial requirements from the field, which included input from all Client Theaters (US, EMEA, Asia Pacific, etc.) to be utilized in the definition of data and functional requirements. Our consultants then developed the functional design and process flows for entitled base processes, quote to contract creation, contract invoice and adjustments, financial integrity, renewal rate and attach rate reporting processes.
Bardess developed detailed requirements and processes that contributed to a successful launch of the new financial system.
